Hello, I’m Dr. James, it’s nice to meet you!
A personal letter to Students and Guardians,
I started Curia because teaching and mentoring is something I am deeply passionate about. During my time through my Master’s and PhD, I was always the teacher that students came to. I supervised undergraduates in our research lab, and taught over 1000 students across 7 courses at Western University. What I noticed was that the moments that mattered most to me weren’t the ones in front of a whiteboard. They were the ones in the hallway when a student was yelling my name to tell me how well they did on an exam, or beaming with pride to share with me they landed their dream internship, or getting a message from a student I taught two years earlier, just because they wanted advice and trusted me enough to ask. Those moments sit with me because they felt like I was fulfilling my purpose and duty as a leader. This is the ‘work’ that feeds my soul.
I hold a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, with 7 years of teaching at Western University. I’ve stood in front of classrooms of wide-eyed students. I’ve given International podium presentations at conferences to experts in my field. I’ve sat across from students who were failing and helped them find their footing. I’ve mentored students through some of the hardest academic moments of their lives. And I can honestly say there is nothing more fulfilling to me than being the leader in someone’s corner when it matters most.
Curia is my way of doing that at scale, building something that gives more students access to the kind of teaching and mentorship that used to only be available to people lucky enough to know the right person. Every student deserves a mentor who has actually walked the path ahead of them. That’s what I’m here for.
If any of this resonates with you, if you’re a parent who wants more for your child, or a student who is ready to push yourself to new heights, I would love to discuss that path forward with you, together.
Sincerely,
Grant James, Ph.D., Founder of Curia

Let’s Work Together.
My passion is finding success with new students and guardians. I would love to discuss your current and future goals. If you would like to learn more you may submit a form, or if you’re ready, book a 30-minute consultation to determine if we are a good fit. Space is limited, therefore, we hold a finite amount of spots available each semester for new students.
